The completed submission.
So I guess I have to explain myself. I saw the movie, sadly not in 3D, and I was really surprised by how the characters were protrayed. It wasn't the classical view or even the comical cartoon Disney, the film was a colder look at what was once a child's silly adventure. So I guess here I tried to show the original story and the film combined, a little nostalgia mixed with new thinking.
As for myself, I always sort of pictured that if I was in Wonderland, I'd be one of two characters. At my best and worse I'm the Hatter, a dazed individual who goes from silly antics to deep reflection as easily as a coin flips. But mostly you see the madness, the silly questions with no answers and finding logic in nothing.
But I always thought I was more like the White Knight from Alice's Adventures through the Looking Glass. A bit character that is always forgotten even though he was the closest to being truly helpful to young Alice. Plus I always loved his little quote, "Twas of my own invention". So I drew myself as also the White Artist, a bit character but hoping that I could pass on something greater than my own existence. Creating hundreds of things that no one will find useful, but maybe at one point I'll make a difference.
Ah and now I'm rambling. I'm proud of this piece and I hope it fares well in the contest. Good luck to all who enter.
Alice in Wonderland and it's characters are copyright to Lewis Caroll and Tim Burton. One for the original idea, one for the adaptation.
